Alterations & Additions

A cosy hammerhead cottage in a lovely established garden gets a crafty new upper floor extension with a new bedroom and study-nook.

The new ‘box’ sits half over the garden and half over the existing roof, cantilevering over the existing dining space. The circulation space around the new stair is not wasted, instead it allows for a large north-facing window over the void, bringing winter sun deep into the living space and venting out hot air via motorised louvres. Minimalist cladding and white-brickwork tie the new volume to the existing (scandi-modern) flavour and create a space that’s easy to enjoy.
